"Your present circumstances don't determine where you can go; they merely determine where you start." - Nido Qubein

Danielle Moore is a deeply committed Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Behavioral Specialist with a special emphasis on serving children, adolescents, adults, and families. Her vast experience directly within clients’ homes, schools, and communities gives her a unique perspective on the everyday environments and challenges her clients face. Throughout her career, Danielle has provided invaluable assistance to individuals dealing with various conditions, from anxiety, Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, and depression to oppositional defiance disorder, self-injurious behaviors, familial issues, and trauma.

Educated at Capella University, Danielle holds a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision. Her dissertation research is particularly insightful, focusing on the experiences of novice home-based counselors receiving supervision from professionals in other helping fields.

After her doctoral internship, Danielle felt a profound calling back to horses — animals that had played a transformative role during her own mental health journey as a teenager. Recognizing the unparalleled healing power of these majestic creatures, she became deeply committed to integrating equine assistance into her counseling practice upon completing her doctorate. Take Heart Counseling is the manifestation of this vision, the confluence of her two enduring passions: horses and counseling. Currently, she is on the path to becoming certified in Natural Lifemanship.

As an educator, she has been an instrumental figure in teaching and training, having instructed intensive training sessions on Functional Behavioral Assessments in PA and sharing her knowledge at the university level as a Doctoral Intern, where she co-taught various courses, both didactic and practical. She has also served as a Supervisor to several licensed-seeking counselors.

Her advocacy for her clients and the counseling profession is evident in her leadership roles. Danielle has had the honor of serving as the President of the Pennsylvania Counseling Association Child and Adolescent Division. Her therapeutic approach incorporates evidence-based treatments tailored to each client’s distinct needs, emphasizing ABA, CBT, and person-centered therapies, with the main focus being Natural Lifemanship.

Beyond techniques and methods, Danielle truly believes in the transformative power of the therapeutic relationship, viewing it as the catalyst for change. She states, “My passion is helping my clients become the best versions of themselves that they can be.” With her extensive professional experience, unwavering dedication, and clear vision, Danielle warmly welcomes individuals of all backgrounds to join her on a journey of growth and healing.

What Horses Did For Me...

At the tender age of 13, I first felt the grounding touch of a horse. With its raw wooden scent and the soft, rhythmic sounds of hooves, the barn became a sanctuary for my restless spirit—a place where my anxieties melted away, and I truly felt present. Yet, life took me far from that haven, and the comforting presence of horses became a distant memory. That is, until my 40th year, when, amidst the pressures of my doctoral internship, I intensely yearned for the solace that only they could offer. And thus, I was reintroduced to horses.

Quinton, my heart horse, is a dignified 27-year-old flea-bitten grey OTTB, carrying with him tales of races and adventures from camps and lesson programs. My reunion with the equine world was on his strong back. But like every story worth telling, ours wasn’t without its challenges. Six months into our journey, an unexpected fall from Quinton shook my confidence, leading to months of reticence and fear. Yet, with time and patience, we found our rhythm again, learning and growing together. Quinton became a mirror to my soul, teaching me resilience, patience, and the value of vulnerability. He reminded me that even amidst our strongest moments, it's okay to lean on others. In the cold embrace of January 2023, both Quinton and I faced our darkest hours — he sustained an injury where he would lose an eye, and my family grappled with a daunting medical challenge that changed all our lives. But in this adversity, we found strength in each other, carrying one another through the storm.

Horses, to me, represent the very essence of home. Their majestic presence offers a unique lens of introspection, allowing me to perceive my own energy and its impact on the world around me. Their inherent strength, capable of dominating yet so willingly gentle, invites us to partake in a dance of mutual respect and awe. Through their eyes, I've come to appreciate the delicate balance of power and grace, and the unparalleled beauty that arises from trust and connection.
